Christmas Memories With Securus

Securus is a phone system that many prisons across the United States use so that prisoners can keep in touch with family and friends. There is an option in some prisons where those who are incarcerated can have a video call with their family on Christmas. This is a special time for those who are in prison as they are able to see their children open gifts and can be a part of the holiday if only for a few minutes.

Children can say Merry Christmas to the parent who isn’t at home with the Securus Christmas visitation program. I enjoy that each party can easily see the other. It’s not the same as being there in person, but it can help children feel like they have the parent with them when they open their toys or look in a stocking. Securus got it right with offering video calls if it’s for nothing more than the holiday season. Spouses and couples can see each other on the holiday, and family members can gather together once again while singing or reading a Christmas story.

The child can show the parent all of the toys that they get for Christmas, which is something that children want to do because they are happy that Santa came. The person who is in jail can hear and see the child rip open packages.
